This has to be Singapore's FIRST EVER travelling dance competition! The People's Association is presenting a new dance competition format that is posed to be the ultimate challenge for all dancers. Open to all dance enthusiasts who are well-versed in their own genre of dance and are able to gather at least 50 dance members.

Champion : $15,000 + Title Honour Certificate

1st Runner-up : $5,000 + Title Honour Certificate

2nd Runner-up : $2,500 + Title Honour Certificate

3 Other Winners : $1,500 each + Title Honour Certificate

The above plus six other top contingents selected (total 12) will be conferred the title honour as Member of the Premier League, Singapore Travelling Dance Contingents 2011. A title honour certificate will be conferred by the People's Association to them. *The Chief Trainer of each Member of the Premier League will receive a token cash award of $1,000 each.

Anyone who is good in dancing and love to perform are welcome to take part! As long as you are able to gather a group of dancers, whether friends, colleagues and/or family members, to make up a team of 50 to 100 members, the dance stage at Chingay 2011 is beckoning you! Local and overseas groups are welcome to participate.

All dance groups are encouraged to unleash their creativity in their own choreography. However, in the first segment of the dance, each and every dance group will have to incorporate a set of standard choreographed dance steps taught by a PA appointed instructor. This standard 1.5 minute dance steps of moving forward choreographed by the PA cannot be altered.

All dance groups will have to bear their own costs including costumes, hand props, meals, transport and other expenses for participating in the competition and the rehearsals. Sponsors may be acknowledged in your own creative way through the dance presentation. In order not to be disqualified, you have to commit all four rehearsals before the parade.

b) 7.00pm, Sat, 15 Jan 2011 Combined full run for local groups at Pit Building

c) 7.00pm, Sat, 22 Jan 2011 Full Dress Rehearsal at Pit Building

d) 7.00pm, Thurs, 10 Feb 2011 Combined full run for foreign and local groups at Pit Building

As Chingay is an international show and for excellent parade standard, no ordinary clothes (such as T-shirt or casual attire) is allowed. The Chingay Committee reserves the right not to accept the participation of any contingents if their costumes are not up to standard.
