This competition is open to all Singaporean and/or other residents of Singapore.

Participants must send in photo entries that represent or capture the festival celebration of the Chingay 2011 event from 11 to 20 February 2011.
This could include images of people in action, celebration and/or joyful moment that illustrate and/or capture in the abovementioned event. The list given here is only an example and is non-exhaustive.

Regardless of the number of entries submitted by the participant, he/she will only stand to win one prize.
5.
Entries must be the sole, original and unpublished work of the participant.
6.
Digital manipulation that distorts the reality of the photos will not be allowed. Only basic enhancements such as sharpening, contrast adjustment, converting colour images to black & white will be allowed.
7.
For images captured on film, it is the participant's responsibility to scan the image into digital "JPEG" format.
8.
Any submission containing or implying pornographic, slanderous, obscene or vulgar content would be immediately disqualified.
9.
Any entries that have won a prize in any previous international or national photographic competition will be disqualified.
Open Category
13.
Photographs can be taken with any camera, including phone camera.
14.
The entries will be judged for its originality, creativity, content and technique. Photos capturing women in non-traditional occupations are encouraged.
Submission
15.
Entries are to be submitted in the following sizes in both hard copy prints AND digital images in CD:
Print size: 20 x 25cm (8R size) or 20 x 30cm (super 8R size) AND
Digital image: JPEG format with a minimum resolution of 3800 pixels on the longer side.
16.
Each participant may submit a maximum of 8 photographs in either colour or monochrome.
17.
Each entry must be accompanied by a title. You may also include a caption of not more than 100 words on what the photo represents to you.
An official entry form (refer to the last page) containing the following particulars must be submitted.

Each participant must download the entry form; printed and pasted on the back of each photo for submission.
Entry form can be reduced to fit the back of each photographs.

Photos and CDs submitted will not be returned.

The closing date and time is 28 February 2011, 9.30 pm.

Entries received after the closing date and time will not be accepted.
Judging
24.
The Organisers will convene a panel of judges to determine the winners for the Open categories. The same panel of judges will also shortlist the top winning photos for publication and/or exhibition.
25.
The judges' decision is final and no correspondence pertaining to the judging and short listing process will be entertained.
Organisers' Rights

The Organisers (defined as):

The Photographic Society of Singapore (PSS)
Reserve exhibition rights and publication rights to the winning and selected entries in print, broadcast and electronic media without requiring permission from the participant and without any fee payable for 3 years. However, the Organisers will acknowledge the participants and award a certificate as a token of appreciation if their entries are used. If the participants' works are selected to be used in a coffee table book, he/she will be given a copy of the book as a token of appreciation.
Have the right to send the selected works on a touring exhibition within Singapore and overseas;
Have the right to use the participants' names for promotional purposes without compensation to the participant;
Will exercise every care in handling the entries but will not be responsible for any damages or loss when in its possession or in transit;
Have the right to disqualify any entry submitted which is non-compliant to the rules and regulations, or copyright infringements; and
Will not be liable for any copyright infringement on the part of the participants;
Reserve the right to modify the competition prizes and its rules and regulations as and when necessary, without prior notice.
27.
The submission of entries signifies acceptance of the above rules and regulations. Non-compliance may result in disqualification.
Copyrights
28.
Participants must own the sole copyright of entries. The Organiser and Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any prize winners who do not own the copyrights to their entries and to recover the prizes that have been awarded to them.
29.
The Organisers shall have the right to exhibit, edit the entry's title and use the winning entries for publicity and marketing purposes before, during and after the competition. The winning images shall remain as the property of the Organiser and Sponsors, who reserves the right to use them in any manner deemed fit, without payment of any fee.
30.
Each participant who wins a prize warrants that he/she is the owner of the photograph (and all the intellectual property and other proprietary rights in the photograph submitted). The Entrant shall indemnify the organisers against all intellectual property infringement and other proprietary claims including any costs, charges and expenses in respect thereof.
