February 2010 The Organisers presents a sneak peak of Chingay Parade 2010. Except the foreign contingents, all the Chingay performing groups were presented in full force at the Full Dress Rehearsal. Spectators were given an excellent photo/video opportunity to capture the debut of 4,500 performers and 15 glittering floats. Spectators were also able to see Taufik Batisah (Singapore Idol Winner. 2004), Tabitha Nauser (Singapore Idol Finalist, 2009) and Zhiyang (Winner of First Campus Superstar, 2006) perched 30 metres above ground, each under a giant 8-metre balloon singing the newly composed Chingay 2010 theme Song “Let’s Celebrate, We are One!” |

January 2010 Orchard Road Mini Parade For the very first time, the People's Association, together with Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA), brought a snippet of Chingay Parade, Asia's Grandest Street and Floats Parade, to the city shoppers on 23, 24, 30, and 31Jan 2010 (7-8pm). The evening streets of Orchard Road was transformed into a boisterous and colourful scene as more than 30 performers painting the town red with feet-tapping drum beats, multi-ethnic dance, stilt walking and a piece of 'Star Wars Action'. |

16 January 2010 - First Ever Singapore Samba Party and Setting the Singapore Record For the very first time, the People's Association (PA) has planned a series of Singapore Samba Rehearsals-turned-parties opened to members of the public. Anyone can join in the 2,000-member Chingay 2010 Singapore Samba rehearsals and party along with costumes while enjoying food and drinks galore at the carnival stalls at PA Headquarters. The PA has also set a NEW Singapore record, “Most number of handpainted banners unfurled at the same time” where Guest-of-Honour Dr Lee Boon Yang, Advisor to Jalan Besar GROs was present to grace the event. where Mr Ong Eng Huat, President of Singapore Book of Records announced the setting of the new record. |

15 January 2010 - Media Preview on "Yellow River - A Chingay Interpretation" In this anchor highlight of Chingay 2010, “Yellow River – the Chingay Interpretation”, the People's Association invited former Senior Minister of State, Mr Lee Khoon Choy, former Senior Parliamentary Secretary Dr Ho Kah Leong, top local Pianist Ong Lit Tat and representatives of Yellow Ribbon Project, Schools and Community Club performing groups to share on their participation in this item. Both Mr. Lee and Dr. Ho have specially crafted an art piece for this performance; a 10m long and 0.5m wide painting of the Yellow River by Mr. Lee, and a calligraphy piece which reads, "君 不 见 黄 河 之 水 天 上 来 ,奔 流 到 海 不 复 回" translated, “Behold! Heaven bestows water on Yellow River, charging with great energy to the sea!” Both pieces will be enlarged to 50 by 3-metre and revealed to audiences during the performance. Mr. Ong will be atop the Yellow River Float playing, “Yellow River” concerto while dancers fill the entire parade route. |

November 2009 25 November 2009 Chingay Media Conference - Another Step to Anchor Chingay as a People's Parade The People's Association announces new initiations to encourage members of the public to be a part of Chingay Parade 2010 to further anchor Chingay Parade 2010 as a People's Parade. The People's Associations is collaborating with several partners to launch a new series of public participation activities to widely engage members of the public and tourists in Chingay Parade 2010 – in a much bigger way like never before! These activities include, "Singapore Samba Rehearsals-turned-Happening-Parties" which will be opened to members of the public and tourists; a "Bigger CDC Wearable Art Contingent" as well as "Chingay Art-Banners - The First Ever City Lamppost BannerArt Exhibition" |

June 2009 30 June 2009 - Chingay 2010 Media Conference 1 Chingay's Milestone Move to Pit Building - a Departure for 2010! Chingay Parade 2010 will take place on 19 and 20 February 2010 at the Pit Building (beside the Singapore Flyer). The Organiser of the Asia's Grandest Street and Floats Parade, the People's Association announced several key highlights in a media conference on 30 June 2009; including a larger scale parade and bigger seating capacity, debut of a pair of fire-cracker dragons from China, Guang-xi, first-time collaboration with Resorts World @ Sentosa to present the Grandest Finale in Chingay history and the engagement of 2 ticketing agents to market Chingay 2010 overseas. |
