The Kuda Kepang dance originated from the state of Johor, and is often accompanied with rich and exotic rendition of traditional music played with indigenous instruments such as gongs, tambourines and angklungs.
The Zapin dance is usually performed in many pairs and accompanied with instruments such as the lute, gypsytype bongos and the violins. It is believed that the dance was introduced to Malaya from the Middle East. Today, the dance is most popular in Johor.
